Aftercare
At the end of your tattoo session, your artist will apply a transparent adhesive film, commonly known as "second skin," and provide an extra piece for later use.
Keep the film on for the next 24-30 hours. When it's time to remove it, soften the film by holding it under warm running water—preferably in the shower—for a few minutes. Wash your hair and body first to prevent shampoo and soap from irritating your fresh tattoo. Avoid submerging it completely. Always remove the film while it's wet to avoid discomfort and skin irritation.
After removal, gently wash the tattoo with unscented soap and your hands—no scrubbing tools. Rinse by splashing water with your hands, avoiding direct water streams on the tattoo. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel, let it air dry for 10-15 minutes, and then apply a new piece of second skin. Keep this on for 4-5 days.
For the second removal, repeat the same steps. Afterward, you can start moisturizing with tattoo balm or unscented lotion. Apply a thin layer after showering or if the tattoo feels tight, but avoid over-moisturizing. Do not use antibiotic ointments, petroleum-based products and oils.
The tattoo may itch or flake over the next 1-2 weeks—do not scratch or pick at it.
Please avoid submerging the tattoo in water, using saunas, tanning, and engaging in hot yoga or strenuous activities that cause sweating while the film is on.
If you notice signs of infection, such as unusual redness, pus, a throbbing sensation, or increasing pain, contact your doctor immediately for advice and inform your tattoo artist.
